Moroccan Garden Shed

Berber Interiors was asked by Channel 5 to provide the furnishings for a garden shed make over in Moroccan style in southwest London. The pictures show what can be achieved quite simply.

Put down a patterned tribal rug; hang hand woven fabric in rich silky colours, plus a silver and bone mirror handcrafted in Fez or Meknes to expand the space; place some candles in pierced metal lanterns to cast romantic shadows and the space is transformed.

For comfy seating , perhaps squashy floor cushions or leather pouffes, combined with a worn chair or sofa revitalised with a length of fabric from Marrakech.

Pile a silver rimmed platter from Safi with fruit of the season, fill red and yellow ceramic bowls with a favourite nibble and on a warm evening carry them outside to the garden table. Place candles in lanterns in strategic places and while the spiced Moroccan lamb cooks in the terracotta tagine share a drink with friends and family.
